Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward

  • Having a guy sit right behind me in Yoga. I was suddenly much more aware of my butt . . .
  • Slipping and catching myself about five times in the TSC while coming back from Yoga. Rain boots really don't have much traction.
  • Realizing that the zipper on my pants is broken while I was at Mitch's apartment. Good thing I had on a long shirt.
  • Making random, awkward eye contact with he same person multiple times at church. I swear I wasn't meaning to keep looking at you. . .
  • Having to explain to a student for fifteen minutes why they don't get their scholarship back in a refund when they drop a class. There are only so many ways to tell them.
  • Having someone at the bridal fair ask me when I'm getting married. When I told them I wasn't they were super awkward about it and told me my time would come eventually. Oh dear . . .
  • Having someone at the health fair ask me if I worked here. Thinking he met USU I told him yes. Turns out he meant working at the health fair. He then asked me where to stack the cardboard boxes he had . . . um, somewhere out of the way?

Awesome

  • My grad applications are finished! Now to play the waiting game until the middle of March. No big, I'll just try to plan my life without knowing where I'm going to live.
  • I just won a pair or Ray Ban sunglasses at the health fair! I seriously never win anything so this was extremely exciting.
  • I am hopefully going to Hawaii in May. Yay for leaving the continental US!
  • The incredible amounts of snow we've gotten recently. The only thing that wouldn't made it better was a snow day.
  • Ingrid Michaelson Pandora. I've seriously been listening to it nonstop lately. It's so happy and bubbly and just great.
  • My best friend Aubree and her husband Cory moved back to Cache Valley so I get so see them and their cute baby all the time!

Isn't he adorable?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
  • There are four stalls in our bathroom at work. I go inside and there is someone in each end stall having a loud conversation. I'm then caught in the middle of them and their conversation while trying to use the restroom. Uber awkward.
  • Tripping over a cement block right after getting out of the car at Second Dam and nearly landing on my face. Grace should be my middle name.
  • Trying so hard not to laugh as I watch a guy walk halfway into the women's restroom because he's texting. I pretended not to see when he realized his mistake and quickly walked to the men's. Mainly I pretended not to see so his pride wouldn't be hurt, hahaha.
  • Allergies. How I hate them! I've never experienced them before this year, and I must say they suck. I'm currently attempting to not sound like I'm plugging my nose.
  • Almost forgetting to close my blinds before I changed. Yeah, that would've been bad . . .

Awesome!
  • My new bracelet from Summerfest
  • I locked my keys in my room, but I was able to card into it in 2 seconds. This also concerns me.
  • The epic prank we execute on Sunday - Mitch's apartment was turned into a beach!
  • Winning three rounds of Texas Hold 'Em without knowing what I'm doing. Look at all my chips! No worries, it's not real money :D

  • My sunburn in now a tan! You should see my awesome farmer's tan line :)
  • Having Elise favorite one of my Dear Boys posts! Totally made my whole week :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward
  • Having a really good memory for small details. When someone tells me something or I learn something about someone, I usually remember it. A lot of times they don't remember telling me, so I pretend I don't know. Also when you learn something about someone on facebook, so really you shouldn't know about it, but you're just really good at fb stalking . . .
  • Making random eye contact with the guy from the next office over. Realizing I also told said guy the wrong information last week about his loans. Thinking I need to tell him I told him the wrong thing, but he's always just walking through to the bathroom, and it might be slightly unprofessional to yell 'Hey you! I told you the wrong thing!' as he walks by.
  • My face. Really? I've never had acne this bad in my life. Lame, lame, lame. I probably look like I'm 13.
  • Pronouncing Uinta 'U-ni-ta' while talking to someone on the phone. Facepalm. I really have lived in Utah my whole life, promise!
  • When I told a student something he apparently didn't like and he was like, "Are you sure?" all condescending-ish, and I really wanted to say "No, I just like to give everyone as much wrong information as possible." But instead just said, "Yes."
I'm pretty sure this picture is both awkward and awesome. Mainly it's awkward, but awesome because of Paula's hair.

Awesome!
  • The 70+ degree weather we had last week, and will have later this week. I love the sun!
  • Also, the rain this week, because it's making the valley green and gorgeous.
  • Nutella and banana crepes. It will change your life.
  • School is almost out. I'm not in school, but my friends are, and now they'll be more free to have adventures with.
  • Ducks! Tuesday when Paula and I left for work we walked around our house and there were ducks in our yard! I yelled 'Ducks!' One flew up and Paula screamed. It was hilarious :). And, what are the odds that the one day I was running late and eating toast for breakfast was the one day we saw ducks? The ducks quite enjoyed the toast.
  • My new computer. It's soooo much faster, it's not falling apart, and it's pink!
  • Tax returns. Last year I had to pay, but this year I'm getting $900. I'm pretty stoked about this :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

It's time for another Awkward and Awesome Thursday!!! Inspired by Sydney over at TheDaybook

Awkward
- The guy at swing dancing last night who combined the Deacon Shuffle, the Cha Cha, the Waltz, normal swing, and tons of things I've never seen before all into one awkward dance. It may sound kinda cool, but it was not. Trust me on this.
- My house is constantly cold, so I decided to install clear window insulators. How is this awkward? It involved me standing in front of three open windows at night with the blinds open, blow drying the window. My neighbors probably think I'm crazy.
- The kid that just came to the front counter and stood right next to the other kid I was currently helping. We both looked over at him; he then backs up and apologized. Personal space and classified info dude! Update: This kid has now come up to me and asked dumb questions six times. I fear for his future. He also introduced himself and shook my hand. Strange.
- Trying to understand people on the phone with super thick accents. You can only say 'what' so many times before you start feeling stupid.
- Ice. I was walking home, wearing my super cute black black boots (sadly with no traction) when out of nowhere BAM! Flat on my butt - no chance to save myself.
- Somehow I always manage to sound like an idiot in front of one particular boy. It's a shame I like him. Oh well, maybe he thinks it's funny.
- The 'developments' I keep telling Paula about. I'm pretty sure I need a code name for this. It's not super awkward (yet at least) . . . but it has the potential to be.

Awesome
- Fuzzy socks. Seriously, these have been the only thing keeping my feel within normal body temperature range. They are amazing. Everyone should own them.
- Picture text messages. They're basically just awesome. I probably send them way more often than I should, but I get a kick out of them :)
- I can now say I've helped build a concrete canoe. No joke. I didn't think it was physically possible for cement to float, but apparently it does. Who knew?
- Hot chocolate. I may be slightly addicted. Not only does it keep your hands warm, it is also a great way to socialize with friends :)
- Free movie tickets. Who wouldn't love this? My super cool roommate Stacy got us all free tickets to a pre-screening of the movie 'New Year's Eve'. It pretty much rocks :)
- Christmas is in 17 days. When did this happen?!?! Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, and I especially love going to my Grandma's house in Wyoming like we are this year. If only I could figure out what to get my mom and sister for Christmas.
- White Elephant gift exchanges. I think they're one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I gave three Orlando Bloom posters and an Orlando puzzle. So glad a boy got it :)
- My Brother's done with 1/4 of his Mission. Crazy! Sometimes it feels like he just left, and sometimes it feels like he's been gone forever. He's loving it so much, and I'm so grateful for his example.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Sydney over at The Daybook has what she calls 'Awkward and Awesome Thursday' where she tells all the reasons for the week why she's both awkward and awesome. Sydney is hilarious and has one of my favorite blogs to read. Here's my take on being awkward and awesome :)

Awkward
  • Answering the phone at work and having to ask three times who they wanted to speak to . . . enunciate people!
  • People who keep telling me good luck with school and then they feel weird when they find out I'm not in school and then that makes me feel weird and old and yeah . . .
  • Almost posting this with the word 'ear' where 'yeah' should have been
  • Not shaving your legs and having a boy touch them and inform you that you didn't shave today. Really? I had no idea!
  • Trying to match visitors at work with the pictures on their badges . . . if you had a beard in your picture it'd be greatly appreciated if you didn't shave ever. If you didn't have a beard, well your face is just gonna have to be naked for a while.  Also, please wear the same hat every time.
  • Leaving my front door open because it's hot and getting whistled at in my pajamas
  • My eight-year-old sister playing footsies with Mark . . . no, just no.
Awesome!
  • Boating . . . 'nuff said
  • Being able to blog at work :)
Having the Internet at my house! I will never take you for granted again dear Internet
  • Strawberry crepes, bacon, and orange Julius for dinner with an episode of Psych afterwards
  • Birthday treats at work
  • My fan named Oscar. Our house without air conditioning would be horrendous without you dear friend
  • Getting emails from Jordan where he says "(creepy eyebrow raise)" and being able to picture his facial expression exactly
  • Staying up late, doing absolutely nothing, and laughing at everything
